Iran Cement Industry

The cement industry of Iran relates back to 1933, when the first cement plant was constructed in the south of Tehran. It was capable of producing just about 100 MT per day. In 1937, its output capacity was upgraded to 9000 MT per year. By the end of the 1970s, Iran cement capacity had decreased to 8 MT/yr because of revolution, war and sanctions.

However its capacity increased again to 16.9 MT/yr in the decade to 1990 and then roughly doubled again in the next decade to 29.5 MT/yr by 2000. More fast expansion was seen in the 10 years to 2010, when 41.1MT/yr of additional capacity came online. In 2015, Iran cement capacity became about 80 MT/yr.

The Iranian cement industry benefits from 79 integrated cement plants. Ten of which are under construction or planned so there are 69 remained that are currently manufacturing cement which share 85.0MT/yr of capacity. About 1.8 MT/yr (2.1%) of this is the white cement capacity.

The recent increase in Iranian cement capacity demonstrates a fairly modern cement output infrastructure, with around 65% of the country’s cement kilns commissioned since 2000. Most of cement plants in Iran are domestically-owned, as it is usual in the region. However, foreign investment has been so limited in the past due to US, EU and UN sanctions.

Amoot Iranian Trading Company with a rich history of commerce over twenty years is an active participant in all types of international and domestic manufacturing, trading and transportation. As one of the strongest trading companies of Asia, Amoot Company is powerfully capable to supply high quality cement and clinker of Iran for all international buyers.
